You'd think she was my pediatrician who makes house calls & today's phone call came while she was at work b/c a friend of hers had a baby 1 week after Reid & she tells me that baby is about ready to crawl so "what's Reid doing?" My reply..."he knows how to lay on his back reeeal good"

I've learned not to expect much from my babies (from a few previous experiences)

even Reids baby girlfriend Ninna is only 2 weeks older & is crawling all over the place!

I saw someones competitive side come out...or twinitive side.

Summer was first at having a loose front tooth but as it dangled she was too afraid to have me pull it & all of my great ideas could not sway her but Tessa did not want to wait another day & allowed me to tie dental floss around her front tooth & was sooo happy to lose it 4 hours before Summer!

but for the 2nd front tooth Summer was 1st to wiggle hers out & I told Tessa she had a few more days until hers was loose enough. Nope, she wiggled 3 straight hours at church & pulled it by the end of primary.

they went to vacation bible school during the summer and as I was giving the room a deep clean I came across this item & threw it in the trash until I decided to double check if it had been used and sure enough...

"My prayers book. I am just an ordinary girl but I can be a missionary."

Here were the happenings in the first week of August when Laura and Mia came to visit all the way from their mountain in Colorado. Went swimming for the day at Laura's friends house

went swimming some more at our neighborhood pool

these boys are getting bigger by the day so I must smooch them as much as possible

Amelia had swim lessons and no longer requires flotation devices! Here she is with her buddies Tessa and Abby

more swimming at Lake Tahoe where we met up with Laura's BYU freshman roommate and her family

(they felt the lake was at least 1 degree warmer than when they went last time)

it may be time to hit a real beach :)

Is this Eliza annoyed that she has to share this moment with her sisters (she thinks Mia should be her very own cousin since they are the same age...sorry missy!) or she could just be focusing on trying to keep her eyes open for the picture...either way we are just happy for time we got to ~~play~~ swim!

Once upon a time there were four little girls who skipped off to school thinking they were all so cool with their fingernails painted a lovely shade of blue. Lunches packed, plus a snack

but there was just a little piece of info that the mom lacked...

the last little girl has to wait one more week for kindergarten (strange, I know) so back home with me she went. A friend clued me in the night before thank goodness

we still all enjoyed our back to school dinner to celebrate our theme this year...When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! Lemon pepper pasta from Trader Joes was also tasty

just remember not to let anyone sour your day because it's up to you to sweeten' it up.

Surprise to our little friend Brynn...she thought she was visiting some long lost cousins until we opened the door (Lori wins mom of the year for planning her daughters 9th birthday)

Grant has made us so proud, he didn't countdown the days until he was home because he loved the work he was doing & it showed with every letter he wrote through email. By the looks of this picture he's ready to dive into the next chapter of his life & we all believe he will be successful with school (& dating :)

Amelia breaks her arm on the last day of vacation in Moses Lake on Memorial Day...James took all the girls on his own but they had so much fun that I don't think it deterred to him to do it again someday

We highly recommend a watermelon toss for FHE, just be sure to share with a family that's just as excited to eat watermelon off the ground as you are! It was more exciting than a pinata...truly.

Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe is our new beach destination so feel free to join us, we go with the Rasmussen gang b/c if another mom is crazy enough to go alone with all of her kids then I can't be left out!

4th of July bike parade was a hit & we are looking forward to do it again next year...the kids followed the fire truck through the neighborhood by the church but Amelia ran the whole way in flip flops

to the daddy who still gets requests from each girl nightly..."dad can you rock a bye me tonight?" With each year that passes their conversations grow a bit more serious such as what happened on the bus to what they ate for lunch :) but it's always a safe place to cry if it didn't turn out to be such a great day. Dad wins for being the best listener in this house.

He is our planner for outdoor activities & after all the hassle he makes our time together worthwhile

Bringing six babies into this world is a big deal & during hectic moments we could both agree that 3 was enough, then 4 was enough, then 5 was enough but then he would say...'you & I both know that there is one more' so here we are at the final six!

they love their dad because he loves treats as much as they do

Here we are when we took a drive to Lake Tahoe last year as he was doing his best to convince his family that moving to Reno would have its benefits

This picture is from Summers dance recital from last year & her daddy remembered to get her a rose but this year I went to her recital with just the older girls & at the end she asked why I didn't have a flower for her...so I guess I'll be sending James alone to the next one!

our bald little guy sometimes reminds me of daddy warbucks, without the cash of course. For the past few weeks he's been a happy sweet baby & I'm so grateful b/c the first two months were long and sleepless...may have something to do with a dairy/soy sensitivity.

His cheeks are a firm chubby, & at times his double chin can make him look like Jiminy Cricket
He smiles whenever you talk to him
He likes to make lots of bubbles on his mouth and Tessa refers to this as 'boiling'
He cannot hang out on a blanket on the floor b/c Thomas instantly wants to lay on him like he does with his sisters (we call him Thomas the tank for good reason)
We are so grateful for this little big blessing to be in our lives and complete our family.

'CLOTHESING' IN ON ME!

Jody came to ~~save~~ visit us and guess what she labeled me as...

a CLOTHES HOARDER!!!

The nerve, the audacity, so harsh but so

true.

pictures of my laundry room before she even arrived, I took these shots so I would motivate myself to work for the 'after' shot of an empty room-clothes washed & put away

in the picture below please notice the bins in the background (she is also cleaning up baby boy at the same time while lecturing me)

Little did I know that Jody would instead have me give them all away rather than waste my time in the laundry room.

We gave away about 12 large, very full bags of clothes & shoes. She's tough I tell you. She wouldn't put up with any whining, whimpering, justification or pouting. No longer could I hold on to items that Amelia would grow into b/c no girl needs 3 of the same dresses & she would not allow me to hold onto any pants with the knees too worn (Summer hid her favorite jeans that had two big holes in the knees) I believe Summer & Tessa play on their knees during recess. She also would not let me hold on to any ugly t-shirts no matter what name brand they were. A friend with 2 girls was very happy to fill 2 trash bags of treasures & Goodwill got the rest. It was tough. It was real. It was tiring. But I hope to one day be a recovered clothes hoarder.

and thee best chocolate cake ever...really, I mean it

and homemade chicken fried steak, it rocked so I advise you to pressure her to put all these recipes on her blog immediately.

What were we thinking that we could actually plan around a forced due date? OH well, it was a fun week to gain an extra 3 pounds and having Tammy with me kept any disappointment or depression far far away.
We set an induction date 5 days before actual due date so we got Tammy a plane ticket 2 days before that so we could play & go out to lunch before she would be stuck at home with me and new baby but instead we had to make a new induction date for a week later b/c I wasn't even close to dilating so we kept busy in and out of the house. Experimented with Coke to clean off the hard water stains from our water dispenser...it worked

Amelia finally had someone to play kitties with her on the floor

This is Tammy's idea of a planned breakfast (slightly different than my moms :)

Arrived at the hospital 8am

Mom flew in to town at 10:30am & was happy to rub it in that it was not her that was in labor

and Tammy was quite happy about that as well

but by 11pm she was getting a little tired, she tried to blame it on her age. Thank goodness she lasted another 53 minutes to see the face of her newest grand baby...I have the sweetest picture of my mom crying but if I posted it she would disown me :)

but I can show Tammy's red eyes with a smile

he may have been the longest labor but his delivery was the shortest with only 2 pushes and just like that he had finally arrived & was very content once he was perfectly swaddled

Thomas made sure his aunt would not forget about him so he gave her plenty of kisses

It was sad that she only had a few moments with Reid before she had to fly back home but so grateful she got to witness his birth

one of the few moments my Mom got to sit down...she was hopping or running the whole week long & she spoiled me with healthy meals at my bedside & the girls miss getting notes in their lunches

We love staring at him b/c he is the cutest miniature person we have around here & he gives us the funniest little old man looks & when he stretches out his legs he always toots...that's great entertainment around here

Aunt Laura came to the rescue for week 2 of recovery (or basically keeping my other children alive by feeding them :) Jody had to cancel to have emergency eye surgery so Laura answered James pleading phone call with a quick "yes"...Thank heavens!

3 school lunches made fresh each morning with a touch of creativity & all items must be homemade such as fruit leather, crackers, ranch dip, etc.

each holiday/celebration we supply 3 classrooms with the appropriate cupcakes so if you wouldn't mind making about 75 of these cute things...thanks

Dinner is always served up fresh and hot by 5:30pm each night & vegetables are a must because my children can't stand a meal without them.

always be standing by to capture the moments of sisterly love b/c when they look back on their childhood I want them to assume they never fought over clothes, shoes, plastic thingies, and paper (yes, paper)

I can't have any disappointed faces like the ones below...just b/c I won't play out in the cold looking snow doesn't mean you won't jump out there with them!

Please read them 20 to 25 books each night so that they will be half asleep before the bedtime hour even rolls around & they will skip off to bed happily (what? this picture has nothing to do with a flash)

After a long day at school they always come home to an incredible snack that I take much time in preparing...

and in your spare time if you could arrange something like this in the playroom, it would be much appreciated since our kids don't like to watch TV it would be nice to have separate shelves for the age appropriate books

and if you could manage to teach our kids how to keep the shoes in perfect order, that would be swell :)

I know this is national plastic free month but instead my joy was found in purchasing a few plastic items that make me happy, #1 favorite purchase was the Slap Chop...yes, it really works b/c soup has been our favorite food lately so I can quickly turn this...

into something more like...

and lately this little guy will do anything to get a laugh from his sisters

#2 favorite plastic purchase was this miniature tupperware tea set. It is so cute that I don't mind refilling my cup six times in order to quench my thirst

just so you can compare size and appreciate the cuteness...

speaking of cuteness, Summer has been killing me lately with it and her sweetness too. On Sunday night she was concerned I would be too tired to do Valentine Breakfast so she unloaded the dishwasher & set the table to be ready for the morning but I caught her...

and a few weeks ago she made some decorations for the house because apparently I'm lacking in that area

she was not disappointed the next morning b/c I did have the energy to decorate the table, made pancakes with strawberry extract (mmm), made peach ~~smoothies~~ milkshakes, scrambled eggs, & James did the bacon & the dishes. It was a sweet day but I'm keeping my feet up from now on (well at least I will during the hours of 11pm - 7am)

Proof of Pregnancy

So here it is...

8 months along, my sisters claim it's been the fastest pregnancy for them...imagine that. Other than Eliza, it really has been an easy going pregnancy. Maybe it's because I've had all the right treats at my fingertips & in the month of January I got lost in the book series 'The Great and the Terrible' (May just have to finish #6 today)

James was already at church so in each picture I'm talking to my mini photographer

I'm so grateful that my boots still zip over swollen feet and ankles b/c my big ol' tennis shoes just wouldn't look cute with skirts.

A few weeks ago I really wanted to feel healthier by cutting back on my sugar intake so I sat down with this book & a bowl of this at my side. Usually this book inspires me & reminds me of all knowledge I've forgotten (it's been with me for 16 years & in my college Speech class it won me an A because it convinced the professor to cut out soda...wonder if he stuck with it?)

but I'm Pregnant & I quickly forgot the chapters I read because by the next day I found myself at Whole Foods spending $40 bucks on all their goodies...nothing wholesome. Oh well, Tammy will be here in less than five weeks- she'll only want carrots & celery for dessert & that's all she'll offer me right?

Words and thoughts to remember...
I get to hang out with Amelia quite a bit these days since I do 'Home Preschool' (I gage how well I'm doing by asking any of her 3 girlfriends who go to professional preschool, what they know & then I feel assured that we're doing great & I take a month off. Kidding, sort of.)

A few words to remember, age 4
"When I'm big enough to be a schooler I will put all my pencils in this backpack"
(I guess this day and age she doesn't want to be gender specific by saying school girl.)

Lately when she feels that I'm on the verge of getting frustrated or senses that my words are getting louder she will look me in the eye and say
"I really like your hair. It looks so pretty"
and she stops me in my tracks b/c it makes me laugh. The comment is so out of place when I'm in the middle of wanting to get upset over something unimportant. Her older sisters are very grateful for this tactic.

A few nights ago James and I were sitting in the living room & the past few weeks he has been complaining that his clothes are shrinking, I told him to just enjoy gaining weight with me & then he says out loud that he wants to lose 10 pounds. I give him a thumbs up and wish him luck. (Raising four little girls...I don't like weight and pounds to be the subject of conversation or something they think they need to think about) Apparently Amelia must have been running around us & overheard b/c two days later she runs up to me and says...
"I know why Dad wants to get 10 pounds lost! So that he won't always be the last one kneeling!"
and it's true b/c every night for family prayer it's a race to your knees with all of them yelling out their number & when he gets called out on 6th place they let out a long sigh of 'Daaaaad'

Yesterday I was at the drive through for In and Out burger (the unnamed baby boy had been begging for one) & the line was long so I was just talking out loud and said 'Let's get this party movin' and then she responds...
"ya, let's get out of here Chuck!"

So maybe we'll just name the new baby Charlie.

The girls were cracking up b/c he pulled the roaster pan out himself & we found him sitting in it & their favorite scene in the 1st Nanny McPhee is when the kids pretend to eat the baby. Yes, all my posts lately have been with thomas but we feel an urgency to adore his every move before another little guy takes his #1 spot.

Eliza turned 9 years old & every year she says it will snow on her birthday but we haven't had snow since before thanksgiving and sure enough she woke up to snow! It was snowing the morning she was born so I guess we have to stick with tradition.

Thomas excitedly waves bye, bye to the girls every morning for about 5 minutes...he doesn't care that they are long gone.

Eliza was so meant to be the oldest in our family & even has a bond with my sister Deb (the eldest :) they have a love for Pigs, piggies, piglets etc. they don't like change very well, they both really appreciate their alone time, and they also appreciate the old classics in life (Liza likes listening to the Kit Kittredge soundtrack & thinks it would be cool to have a really old typewriter that works)

She sweetens our lives and we love her to pieces!!!

the husband & wife team took their job very seriously, new rubber mitts, new $20 thermometer that cooked Mr T just right. I don't like turkey meat but this one was gooood.

We moved to Chesterfield, Missouri in March of 2007 when Amelia was still just a baby but here they are on the front porch of the home we rented for 1 year and would soon be moving down the road a mile or so to the new 'old' home that we bought...

here are some before and after shots of what was done to the house, each room had wallpaper & some had two layers...very fun.

No wallpaper in this paneled room but it did need Sheetrock

Here is the kitchen before with it's lovely 2 layers of laminate

Now if I knew we'd be moving after just a couple years then maybe I would have connected the wood flooring from the kitchen to the living room but we loved having soft carpet in our family room

We had visitors flock to St Louis in the early summer, no it wasn't for the cozy humidity it was for all these little ones! Liza was crying in this picture b/c she was saying goodbye to Mia

and we had visitors in the summertime, just in time to catch some fireflies in a jar

friends came over to play late into the evening while waiting for their mom to have their baby brother born

Here is our first of 2 years on swim team, ribbons still hang on their walls

dad's giving eliza a pep talk or a threat that she better win or else :) let's just say that she swam b/c her friends did

here they are in all their littleness just growing up little by little

This picture can still make me cry because after a scary miscarriage, James called Jody from the hospital & asked if she could come help out while I recovered...she didn't even pause before saying she would be on the next available flight.

we had deer nibble our apples

and little girls gave each other makeovers in the basement where mom didn't care if you spilled a bottle of nail polish

and we enjoyed many rainy cozy days...inside

we took advantage of the Ballwin pool on the many hot days b/c who can resist the lazy river?

then Christmas came around and we got to have fun company again

Aunt Jody and Uncle Garrett spent the day at Amelia's doctor while she received her medicine. Let's just say that after that experience Amelia can still get anything she wants if she asks her aunt jody

for the two years that she had ITP she would sleep for hours and hours during the day and this one picture brings back all the memories

here is our unfinished basement that we had plans of finishing since we moved in and now we see what a blessing that we didn't sink more money into it

Overall the house was filled with happy memories

and I love this one b/c they didn't even flinch when the bright camera flash went off & they both had their sugar babies under their heads

more playtime, the babydoll has a chain taped from her nose to her ear...I even felt sorry for her

The first of warm spring days had to be spent with friends, a hose, and a baby pool

Took advantage of all that St Louis had to offer like the zoo & never ran out of things for company to see with all their museums & beautiful places

Spent a lot of time in our yard
& enjoyed everything that popped up

Easter morning was so pretty we could have walked to church...but we didn't.

then came news that a baby boy would be on his way

so my Mom came to visit before the baby was born so she could have some fun with me, yes, she is a bit of a party girl

Look who was lucky enough to say he was born in the 'Show Me' state

all I can say is that our next baby will have issues if he doesn't get his own photoshoot with Alma

Grandma & Grandpa Bowen saw more sites in and around St Louis than all of us put together...they are amazing!

Then another Christmas rolls around & I get my sister Deb b/c she had an empty nest since Grant decided to go live in Peru for a few years :) Yay for me

I like this shot below of her tongue hanging out b/c she's not used to lifting little ones...all the time!

Eliza had such a great primary teacher and on top of that she took her baptism pictures and during the process she caught Liza yawning

our last visitor who came for our last Spring

Then just a month later we hear news that changes our entire future

but we still feel the love even if the girls turn their heads away from the camera except for the one with her tongue out...she's always been really good at expressing how she feels.

we gathered one last time to eat treats and avoided any talking that delt with the reality of moving

Amelia asked her friends to bury her so she wouldn't have to face the future without them

Our dining room was usually covered with papers and crayons all over the floor but this time there only sits a sign in sheet for someone to come and appreciate the home and neighborhood like we did

So this is the end of that chapter in our lives because our home closed last week. Such a quick review of 3 1/2 years that I could never sum up why that was our favorite spot...it's all the little things that just continually added up but I never took pictures at book club or DeBunko (we couldn't call it Bunko b/c all we did was jump around to each others home for a yummy meal & laugh) or stopping by friends to be invited in for pancakes or to see if something yummy was baked up and so it's always the folks you know and love...whom I will never forget.

James has babied this truck for almost 14 years now & the darn thing never fell apart so we could never justify getting rid of a paid for vehicle but now he's finally convinced that we've outgrown it :)

last Wednesday we all celebrated James birthday a few days early b/c he left Friday for his hunting trip that was planned before we even knew we were moving. He has finally caught up to me in age, at least for now.

Our indoor lighting stinks for taking pictures so I've been trying to manually fix this & while changing my white balance settings I forgot to change them for when I went outside to capture Amelia loving the snow so I went back outside for the last 2 pictures to show the difference in what the morning light really looked like (b/c it definitely was not bluish)

Thomas was too busy eating to be apart of this picture...I was just happy not to have to buy anything for their costumes this year, recycling is the best!

Our little guy was a chicken & this is the only picture I got of him, how pathetic but at least it was a cozy costume whether he liked it or not.

A hay ride with hot chocolate...they loved it even though it was so so cold!

I am always amazed with how every ward pulls off these gatherings but I've never been to one that has a bubble machine...She said she saw one & then they made their own & have been using it for years.
It was so cool.

So now I'm ready to throw out the candy and get back to having baked goods permeate the house!

First off let's give credit to Summer & Tessa for going easy on me this year b/c they decided they wanted to share a cake and all they cared about was having umbrellas on it...simplest cake ever

but their favorite news of the week was when I announced that Grandma and Aunt Tammy were going to be here on their 7th birthday! they squealed with excitement.

they were so happy to be spoiled by our guests

While driving alone with Tessa we drive through the community gate and she says "that man has a hard job...he has to smile aaand help the gate open. What if he has a bad day...does he still have to smile?"

thomas loved all the personal attention he got from this girl so he started calling her mama.

then Tammy had to stay home from church with Thomas b/c for sure he wasn't feeling great ;)

so she reorganized our shelves to look more appealing than how I just unpacked a box & threw stuff on there.

We loved our evenings out but James couldn't really capture the moment & blamed the camera for his ghostly pictures

oh well.

Tammy had him dressed and hair styled by 9am every day & the product she put in his hair made him smell like he just crawled out of a salon.

My Mom is always worried about pictures of her being posted so she always has her make up on before she leaves her room in case my camera catches her but at 66 she has already aged better than me.

visit Reno for the first time! They were so excited that they rented a car for the 10 days so they could see all that they had planned...the only thing that was not planned was having our entire household get sick & sadly we blamed our lovely Sunday dinner b/c Thomas was the only one who didn't catch our bug.

but the week ended wonderfully. We are all healthy, wealthy, and wise. Healthy, yes. Wealthy, not so much these days. And just a little more wise.

First, I simply kept forgetting until the next phone conversation.
Second, all my nick knacks have not been fully organized, decorated & situated but oh well.
Third, just figured Laura could fly out here & see it in person but she decided instead to have some (okay major) heart troubles. Oh the things this girl will do to get you to listen! :)

Here is the dining room to the right of the entry way. Tacky? YES. but it is the best and most used space in the house. Who needs to be formal when dining anyway?

Let's visit Eliza and Amelia's room 1st b/c all I had to do was make their beds.

My favorite mirror that is a keepsake from my last home. Notice the chair in front of the dresser so that Liza can check out her outfits before school...it's always good to double check yourself

Here is a before of Summer & Tessa's room b/c they have thee hardest time keeping their room clean. Now I know why Liza chose Amelia as her roommate.

we now also enjoy having a room that has the ability to stay clean b/c there is no through traffic. We scored getting a piano off craigslist...so happy with it.

Great neighborhood paths for early evening walks and yes Amelia will go anywhere in a variety of jammies

Yes, I have an overload of pictures during our stay in St George and this Aunty came over every day after work just to squeeze this little man (and she fed him, bathed him etc)

well it looks like he also learned to text from all the time he spent in her lap.

No more requests will be granted at this time...we have the first day of school on Monday and a four year old's birthday to celebrate. The girls don't know what to be more excited for, literally they have been talking it up for weeks on the planning of her birthday & what luck that I move away from my friends that I could have burdened with being the photographer, the balloon maker/entertainer, the cake maker and party planner. sniff, sniffle...I guess I'll just have to do.

Hot summer days made just for swimming

Look close and you will see why it is such a miracle to make it through a summer at Grandpa's pool with no calls to 911...there are actually four platforms for diving off, one rope swing and a large pole covered with carpet hanging over the pool about 10 or 12 feet.

Swimming all day can really wipe you out

From sun up to sun down this pool was on duty and did a fine job of entertaining on our long hot summer days...see you next year.

Who woulda thunk that Uncle Joey who has 3 little ones of his own would plan a trip to fly out here b/c he was dying for some quality time with my 5 little ones! I know, he's an amazing uncle to fly up on his own dime & devote a week to hanging out with us...well maybe it was just an overnighter & maybe his work paid for it b/c he had some exciting deposition to do but hey...he could have stayed in a hotel but he chose us, he chose us (please say that last part with conviction like Tom Cruise would)

Thanks Joseph for the visit! I could have captured more exciting moments than this at the yogurt shop but I was too entertained with you trying to teach my girls leg wrestling before bed & watching to see if you would hurt yourself while trying to do your traditional tuck ins on the top bunks :) that was funny. Indoor Hotel for sleepovers all week (for the first time ever we went to bed before our girls & fell asleep listening to their giggles)

Lesson learned...why purchase and store baby equipment when your children will create something much more cost effective & probably used just as much
